Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe has caught a “bunch” of balls this year, a team-high 40 receptions in fact. However, there's another “bunch” that's just as important to this second-year pro. Recently, 22 kids from his Bowe's Bunch program spent a special “Day with Dwayne.” The group rode a party bus with Dwayne, T Branden Albert and CB Maurice Leggett to a downtown bowling alley. There, they spent time eating pizza, playing games and bowling with this gridiron threesome before loading back on the party bus for their ride home.
Having been raised exclusively by his grandmother, Dorothy Williams, Dwayne knows the importance a grandparent can have on the life of their grandchildren. That's why Dwayne formed “Bowe's Bunch” in collaboration with The Family Friends Grandparents and Relative Caregivers program.
“Being that I was raised by my grandmother my entire life, I feel blessed to have found the Family Friends Grandparents & Relative Caregiver Program,” noted the Florida native. “I am proud to be a part of this program and I can't wait to see what the future holds.”
This isn't Dwayne's first interaction with his Bowe's Bunch. Earlier this year, Dwayne invited the group to a Chiefs game complete with a pre-game sideline tour, game tickets, and food vouchers.
The Family Friends Grandparents and Relative Caregivers program was established in conjunction with Children's Mercy Hospital in 1993. It was created to empower grandparents and relatives to help themselves improve the quality of their lives and those of the children they care for. This group provides support, guidance and education by trained grandparents and professionals.

Kansas City Chiefs second-year pro WR Dwayne Bowe and the National Football League know how important the health of today's youth is. This is why the NFL, in conjunction with players throughout the league, plan special player visits as an incentive to get students more active and eating healthier. Thanks to this year's “Take a Player to School” visit, some special kids in Gardner, Kansas heard the message loud and clear from a gridiron giant. The day began with quite a surprise for a local youth. Bowe picked-up 5th grade student Tommy Wilkinson in a limo from his house and took him to Pioneer Ridge Middle. After a quick stop by the principal's office, Bowe met with Tommy's classmates and spoke to the students about the
