"D Bowe Days at DTA"
On November 16th, Dwayne visited Derek Thomas Academy to help support a school program whose main goal is to improve the reading skills of their students. The program, Read 180 teaches children at Derek Thomas Academy, grades 4-8 how to increase their reading level as well comprehension level.
D Bowe Days at DTA does just that. Each reading class was divided into teams and over the past month, each team has worked hard to earn group points and become group of the day. Students earn these points and the group of the day privileges by following certain classroom expectations and improving specific reading skills. The ultimate goal of this program is to promote a healthy learning environment while teaching the children how to work together to improve not only their learning skills but their social skills. The winning group earned the chance to have a personal meet and greet with Dwayne, which in the end, made all of the students work hard!
The Un-Bowe-lievable Foundation Fund
The Un-Bowe-lievable Foundation, established in 2009, is a fund dedicated to addressing and meeting the needs of under-acknowledged grandparents who are raising their grandchildren as well improving the confidence level of the children in America. Dwayne's goal is to emphasize the importance of education and hard work by touching the lives of both young and old and showing them first hand that with a lot of hard work and determination all of your dreams will come true. Dwayne wants to not only be remembered by his accomplishments on the football field but also his accomplishments throughout the community.
The Un-Bowe-lievable Foundation Fund is a donor-advised fund of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation. The Baton Rouge Area Foundation is an organization described by I.R.C. Section 501(c)(3) as a non-profit organization that is exempt from federal income tax and to which contributions are tax deductible.
